What do you think your best resources for success are?
Posted On Thursday, January 15 2009 at 12:47 PM
Success is investing all that you are in what you have a burning desire to achieve. Success lies within your personality, your motivations, and your... see more confidence in your abilities. It is often the things that make you unique that influence the uniqueness of your business. Success is achieved by pushing the limits, setting new standards, constantly challenging yourself to spark improvements. Now does this mean you have to know everything? Absolutely not! This brings up the second most valuable resource, people. I am sure you have all heard the phrase, “Jack of all trades but master of none.” It would be wise to learn that phrase and live by it. An open mind will help you realize that whatever you can do good, someone else can always do better. Ouch! I am sure you have also heard the phrase, “Two heads are always better than one.” Do you see the connection yet? You will be much stronger as an individual and much stronger as a company if you can effectively manage people. People are your most valuable asset and most trusted resource. The combination of expertise, ideas, creativity, and knowledge that can be shared, combined, and developed from a group of people is much stronger than that of any one individual. Social networks aren’t popular because people can’t find anything else better to do, they are popular because they give people the opportunity to connect and learn. The above example best applies to individuals you are working with and individuals working for you. People are also a valuable resource as a customer. A product or service is created to fulfill a need or want of a specific customer base. In order to effectively satisfy that need or want, it is important for you to completely understand who your target market is (demographics), where your target market is (geographic), the best way to reach your target market (communication models), the motivations behind their buying behaviors (consumer behavior), and their perceptions (of your product/service, brand). You have to listen, observe, and react. This is a topic I could probably write an entire book on, but your two primary resources for success are yourself and people. People product the materials you use and the information you need (strategic management). They also decide what you should produce and how much (economics). You are the only person that can determine what you are going to do with that information, and if anything, how you are going to use it. One important thing to remember: Nothing is a problem, it is a challenge, and with every challenge comes opportunity. An opportunity can't be found, it must be created.
